Search Abandonment

Search abandonment is when a shopper leaves a store, or gives up searching, after one or more failed search attempts — most commonly following a zero-result or low-relevance response.

Part of Zero Result Searches

It's a downstream consequence of search failure rather than a separate technical event: the search itself may have executed correctly, but if it didn't return anything useful, the shopper's next action is often to leave rather than try a different query.
